At the last minute i added on the extensive pages another script that facilitates navigation through an always visible clickable arrow.

With this last addition, the new menu structure is a fact.

The renovation of our website is going much faster than expected. On Monday 12 January the new menu structure will come on-line.

2 more days so to check all the pages a second timei.

Everyting is going reasonably well. The Dutch version of the menu structure is almost finished. Translation to English is not that much work and can be followed fairly quickly. Then all pages still work.

Below a sneak preview of the new menu structure.

The menu closed.
Due to the new smaller menu structure, switching between Dutch and English language is with the new menu structure only possible at the main page.

And a menu item opened

Our current website has been running satisfactorily for about 7 years now. But the technology does not stand still, and there are more and more visitors with "small screens" like tablets and smartphones at our website. Unfortunately, the current menu structure is not very suitable for small screens.

At a computer screen everything looks fine.

But at a smaller screen menu buttons are disapearing.

Time for a update. And of course a good opportunity for all pages (about 230 pages at the moment).

Obviously a hefty job that will also take a considerable time.

QR-codes at schedule page

11 maart 2015

QR codes were already here and there on our website for directions and website addresses, but as of today our schedule has been expanded with the so-called QR codes and you can find a QR code under the date for each agenda item.

A copy-paste of Wikipedia:

QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response Code) is the trademark for a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional barcode) first designed for the automotive industry in Japan. A barcode is a machine-readable optical label that contains information about the item to which it is attached. A QR code uses four standardized encoding modes (numeric, alphanumeric, byte/binary, and kanji) to efficiently store data; extensions may also be used.

The QR code system became popular outside the automotive industry due to its fast readability and greater storage capacity compared to standard UPC barcodes. Applications include product tracking, item identification, time tracking, document management, and general marketing.

A QR code consists of black squares arranged in a square grid on a white background, which can be read by an imaging device such as a camera, and processed using Reed–Solomon error correction until the image can be appropriately interpreted. The required data is then extracted from patterns that are present in both horizontal and vertical components of the image.

Onze QR-codes

The QR codes we have made contain all relevant data. Not only the name as "Orchids Show", but also the date and time of the show and the address data that you can open directly with google maps. As of today, you no longer have to type the agenda items, but just scan the QR code with your smartphone and all relevant data is directly imported in your diary..

In the Google playstore, the Blackberry store, the Window's phone store and the Iphone appstore are many QR-readers to be found, a lot are even freeware.

We still often give away our business cards and so it was time for a new order.

Today we received the order and I couldn't resist to take a picture of all those cards.
250 cards per stack, so i think it will last a while.

November 22nd 2012

Thanks to the very malicious "company" sedo.de we were forced to destroy some 3000 general business cards, 500 named business cards and 1500 flyers. Also all our logo's had to be modified.

Sedo.de cost us a lot of time, work and annoyance, but our logos are ready again, and our newly ordered business cards and logos has arrived.
